First Selectman

As the current First Selectman, I’m engaged in many things happening in town and have an open-door policy for anyone who wants to keep up with what’s happening in Simsbury. My role as Chief Elected Official is to work closely with our Town Manager, the town’s Chief Executive Officer, to set our agenda and discuss town policy. I also serve as Board Chair, running our meetings and listening to the public. I strive for a team effort in all we do on the Board of Selectmen, maintaining a non-partisan approach.

This includes working with other boards and commissions, building relationships with our businesses and residents, and staying engaged in state-level municipal organizations. I am an active participant in the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) Policy Board and the Capitol Region Council of Governments Executive and Policy Boards (CRCOG), as well as on their legislative and housing committees.

I love doing what I believe is right for our town and residents. Having served two terms as First Selectman, I am hitting my stride (not to mention earning my MPA!) and can effectively continue to serve our residents and taxpayers. The need for local leadership capable of standing up to the changes being pushed by the current administration in Washington is more important than ever and I’m not afraid to do that to protect the well-being of our community.

Prior to local government, I commuted to Hartford, raised a family, and volunteered as most moms do in town. As a Simsbury Mom, my past volunteer work includes serving on the Simsbury Youth Hockey Board of Directors, room parenting at both Tootin’ Hills and Tariffville Schools, and many years at the Simsbury Little League/Babe Ruth snack shacks. I cheered at many other sporting events and sat through too many to count choral concerts at HJMS and Simsbury High School.

Employment History: I am currently ‘retired’ from the job market, which I left in December 2022, leaving a part-time IT role to focus full-time on my town responsibilities, education, and family. In 2018, I left ‘Corporate America’ after a 25-year IT career that started as a Programmer at Travelers and ended at Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, as an IT Director. Between the Travelers and Optum years, I took a leave to work as a stay-at-home mom, with some consulting and a home business thrown into the mix. Both kids – Kevin and Leah - are now great adults I’m proud of.

Education: I am a proud 2025 graduate of the UCONN Graduate School, where I earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the School of Public Policy’s Executive Fellows track.

I have a B.S. in Economics/Finance from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT. I am also a graduate of Bloomfield High School in nearby Bloomfield, CT, where I grew up.

Why I love Simsbury:  Because Simsbury is my home! I have lived here longer than anywhere else in my life - where my husband Brian (‘Max) and I raised our family, and dogs Cody, Sarge, and now Mabel, made life-long friends, have a home we love, along with a sense of community and belonging that can never be replicated. I can play in a local golf league, meet friends for pickleball, grab coffee, go shopping, hit the multi-use trails, watch Ben Folds play at the Performing Arts Center with the HSO, and sit by the scenic Farmington River (bringing that coffee I grabbed). It is a great place to live through all that life brings your way.

Fun Fact:  I have been going to concerts, as a rock & roll fan, since 1972. The first show I saw was Rare Earth at the Bushnell. I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen over 20 times, starting in December 1975, when we were crammed into a college gym for the Born to Run tour. The runner-up to Springsteen is The Ramones, during their heyday of the late 70s and early 80s. I wish I could see them again (may they rest in peace). I can brag that I’ve been to the Sphere twice – to see longtime favorite, The Eagles, last year, and new favorite Dead and Company in May as part of my daughter Leah’s bachelorette in Las Vegas. One last fun fact is that I am trying to learn how to play the electric guitar sitting in my office – a bucket list item. Wish me luck!
