Why I serve?
Now that I am retired, and recently widowed (no longer a caretaker), I have more time to get involved in volunteering and keeping track of 13 grandchildren and my gardens. I am secretary of the board for the Simsbury Historical Society, on the board of the Farmington Valley Chorale (14 years), and on the Simsbury Building Committee. I have previously thought about getting involved with the Planning or Zoning Commission, since my education and work experience are well suited to this. I feel I have something to contribute and need to keep busy doing something useful while engaged in town.

Why I love Simsbury:
I have lived in town since 1981, raised my daughters here, going through the school system, and been involved with various causes in town, including open space preservation with the Land Trust, while seeing zone changes and the transition of industrial land into housing developments. I have enjoyed Simsbury Farms, the Performing Arts Center, Theatre Guild and choral concerts, school plays, bike and hiking trails, kayaking on the Farmington River, Eno Hall, the Historical Society, local shops and restaurants, etc. Simsbury has a lot to offer and is a great place to live.
Fun Facts:
1). I was a star water skier at summer camp on Lake Winnepesaukee, NH, doing tricks (ages 13-15) that seem amazing to me now. I stopped doing cartwheels at age 60, after breaking my wrist on the ice.
2). The last time I visited Norway, I was told I speak like the queen, who is 10 years older than I am. I speak fluent conversational Norwegian, the polite formal dialect from the Oslo area, as spoken in the 1950’s, before modern slang and blended dialects.
