Shannon is a Special Education Advocate and works with families to navigate the special education system.

Shannon has served on the Board of Selectmen, Economic Development Commission, Zoning Commission (Alternate), Simsbury Library Strategic Planning Commission, and on the Democratic Town Committee Steering Committee. She is the Vice Chair of the Simsbury Aging and Disability Commission. She has been been a Gubernatorial appointment to several task forces including those on IEPs.
