Diana A. Yeisley

Secretary of the DTC; Board of Selectman; Aging and Disability Commission

Why do I serve? I believe in giving back to my community, in all aspects.  Impacting policies and governing for those in our community who may be underserved and being able to give voice to their needs is a privilege I do not take lightly. With Democracy and our rights on the line, it is more important than ever to be a strong voice and active participant in our Town, our State and it’s government.

Past or present Boards/Commissions/Volunteer work: I am currently Secretary of the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee, Chair of the Simsbury Aging and Disability Commission,  and President of the Theatre Guild of Simsbury.  I have previously served as the President of the Special Education Parent Teacher Association for Simsbury Public Schools, a founding steering member of the Simsbury DEI Council (Formerly SPIRIT Committee), founding member of Autism Speaks CT and the Walk Now for Autism Speaks, board member of Simsbury Summer Theater and volunteer for Special Olympics Simsbury and Simsbury Friends for Music.  I have volunteered for Theatre and music at Simsbury High School, Henry James Memorial School and Squadron Line Elementary School, including directing 2 musicals at Squadron Line.

Employment History: I have long been a “professional volunteer” and often say that I do a lot of jobs that I do not get paid for.  I have been employed by Simsbury Public Schools as a preschool teacher and Kindergarten Enrichment Program Teacher. Prior to having children and becoming a professional volunteer, I was employed by Vantage Staffing where I brought in new business clients while also running the Temporary Employment Desk which involved training and finding jobs for people.  Prior to that I was employed at Paine Webber where I traded commodities for the Futures Fund Department and Smith Barney as a Jr. Broker.

Education: I attended The Pennsylvania State University for Speech Communications in Business and on a scholarship for Vocal Music Performance

Why I love Simsbury: The friends who are my family here have made Simsbury a place I do not want to leave.  This is a town who comes together and helps each other in amazing ways and a striving to be an inclusive community is something I love about Simsbury. I know that Simsbury is a safe place for my adult son with Autism and the businesses who employ him are invaluable for our community.

Fun Fact: I traveled on a singing tour to Australia and New Zealand and sang in the Sydney Opera House. I also love to wear pink and Lilly Pulitzer (although this is very widely known)
