Erin Leavitt-Smith

Chair of the DTC; Chair of the Planning Commission; Aging and Disability Commission

Current Office: Planning Commission, Aging and Disability Commission

Why I serve? I was interested in getting involved with the protection of Simsbury’s natural resources and open space land by assisting with the continued preservation of those resources. The Planning Commission has given me that opportunity through the work the board does with the Plan of Conservation and Development. As Director of Older Adult Services with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, I wanted to offer my experience to the commission to assist older adults and people with disabilities in town.

Employment History: I have worked for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for 33 years. In that time, I have served in several different capacities within the department, all having to do with direct care of people with severe and persistent mental illness as well program management. My current job is Director of Long-Term Services and Supports that oversees programs aligned with the states rebalancing efforts.
