Why do I Serve? Simsbury is an exceptional place to live. The charm of the town, the outstanding school system, the commitment to open space and conservation all make this a wonderful place to call home. I believe it is extremely important to find ways to contribute to the community. I find that participation on the town’s board and commissions are a rewarding way for me to give back and stay involved. I am completing my third full term on the Board of Education, and I am excited to use those 12+ years of experience as a foundation for some of the budget work done by the Board of Finance.
Past or Present Boards / Commissions / Volunteer work: In Simsbury, I have served on numerous boards in the past including the Board of Ethics, Economic Development Commission, and the Board of Education. On the Board of Education, I have chaired the Personnel and Negotiations committee for many years as well as participated on the Town’s Pension and Retirement Committee.
Employment History: I have been in the Insurance industry in the Hartford area for over 35 years, with most of that time in the property and casualty actuarial field. I currently work at an insurance company called CapSpecialty. I have recently shifted my role from the Head of the Actuarial department to the Chief Underwriting and Risk Officer.
Education: I graduated with a degree in Mathematics from SUNY Binghamton, and I received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Why I love Simsbury: As mentioned above, the natural beauty of the town, and the community’s commitment to maintaining the high standards make Simsbury a wonderful place to live. Andrea and I have raised four amazing children in Simsbury where they learned the importance of open space and got started with a strong education.
Fun Fact: Total math nerd; math-related books are favorite beach reads. I’m also addicted to the New York Times crossword puzzle. My longest streak of completing the daily puzzle currently extends over 2,300 days.
