First Selectman

Past or present Boards/Commissions/Volunteer work: As First Selectman, I’m engaged in all things Simsbury, including Chair of the Board of Selectmen, working closely with our Town Manager and the members of the board. This includes key involvement across all boards/commissions, building relationships with our businesses and residents and staying engaged in state-level municipal organizations. Since running for office in 2019, I have been a member of the Board of Selectmen and involved in town government. Prior to local government, I was commuting to Hartford, raising a family and volunteering in town. As a Simsbury Mom, my past volunteer work includes serving on the Simsbury Youth Hockey Board of Directors, room parenting at both Tootin’ Hills and Tariffville Schools and many years at the Simsbury Little League/Babe Ruth snack shacks. I cheered at many other sporting events and sat through too-many-to-count choral concerts at HJMS and Simsbury High School.

Employment History: In December 2022, I left my part-time role as IT Director at Airway Management Education Center after 4 years to focus full-time on my town responsibilities, education, and family.  In 2018, I retired from ‘Corporate America’ after a 25-year IT career that started as a Programmer at the Travelers and ended at Optum/UnitedHealth Group as an IT Director.  Between the Travelers and Optum corporate jobs, I took a leave to work as a Stay-at-home Mom, with some consulting and a home business thrown into the mix, with both kids turning out great!

Education: I am currently enrolled as an MPA fellow in UCONN’s Executive Master of Public Administration Program that starts Fall 2023 on the Hartford campus. In 1984, I earned a B.S. in Economics/Finance from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT while working full-time at the Travelers.  I’m also a proud graduate of Bloomfield High School in neighboring Bloomfield CT, where I grew up.

Why I love Simsbury: Because Simsbury is my home! I have lived here longer than anywhere else in my life - where we raised our family and 2 favorite dogs, made life-long friends, have a home we love, along with sense of community and belonging that can never be replicated. I can play in a local golf-league, meet friends for pickleball, grab coffee, go shopping, hit the multi-use trails, and sit by the scenic Farmington River (bringing that coffee I grabbed). It is a great place to live through all that life brings your way.

Fun Fact:  I have been going to concerts, as a rock & roll fan, since 1972. I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen the most - over 20 times, starting in December 1975, where we were crammed into a college gym for the Born to Run tour, with a ticket to see him this fall. The runner-up to Springsteen, is The Ramones, during their heyday of the late 70’s and early 80’s. I would also like to add that I just saw Dead & Company for the first time, having NEVER seen the Grateful Dead in all of my concert years. (If anyone would ever like to see all of my concert ticket stubs, I would be happy and proud to show them to you.)
